Jatoba hardwood is the most popular hardwood flooring imported from Brazil to the USA and Canada.  Brazilian Cherry, known for its hardness and durability is an exotic hardwood that is a great choice in both residential and commercial installations.  We offer several sizes for both prefinished and unfinished formats.

Characteristics

Brazilian Cherry From South America has a brownish-red color.  It darkens from a tan/salmon color to a deep, reddish-brown and is 182% harder than the domestic Red Oak.  On the Janka hardness scale, Jatoba ranks 2350 vs. 1290 for Red Oak.

Jatoba is an extremely heavy wood; hard to cut and varies from light brown to pink, to reddish-brown, with some intense shadowing.

Main Applications

Hardwood Flooring – Pre-finished and unfinishedJatoba is very heavy due to its high mechanical properties.  At Stonewood we offer consistency.  Your Brazilian Cherry floors will match from job to job and the color variation will be in an acceptable range.  Our tongue profile will always engage properly and the over wood will be minimal.  We encourage you to compare our quality to the current Jatoba you are using.  Consistency is the key to avoiding expensive callbacks.  We dry our Jatoba hardwood to 8-10% and it is milled to NOFMA standards.

Pre-Finished Jatoba

Pre-finished Jatoba is one of our largest selling items.  With the latest in milling and finishing technology, Stonewood is able to offer you Jatoba flooring with micro-beveled edges on all four sides.

Our 7-step UV finishing system offers the newest aluminum oxide finish with the last two coats being anti-scratch.  This maximizes the performance of the finish and allows for easy maintenance and excellent recoatability.In the last decade, the prefinished segments of the hardwood flooring industry grew to 70%. With significant improvements in the coating technology and the speed of installation, prefinished hardwood has become a preferred application.

Jatoba is approximately two and a half times harder than domestic oak and it is a great choice for residential and commercial applications.

Finish

When wood finished, there are 5 coats of clear aluminum oxide and two coats of anti-scratch that accents the true beauty of the hardwood.  The Chocolate Brown finish leaves a deep rich Chocolate color that lasts.
