Engineered hardwood flooring might sound like a new and novel term, but it actually consists of familiar concepts and materials. The core of the product is made up of solid hardwood, plywood, or HDF which is adhered to a top layer of hardwood veneer, which is available in virtually any hardwood species. This type of flooring accentuates the aesthetically appealing natural characteristic of the selected wood species but also highlights impressive stability and durability against moisture.

Typically, there are three or more layers in engineered flooring and increased layers provide more resistance against moisture. This fact makes this type of flooring suitable but not limited to, below-grade installations such as basements or kitchens, where moisture is most prevalent.
